Browsing tables

Tables is organised in multiple views, each of which helps you to accomplish a specific task. Each view occupies the white design space below the navigation bar on the top. The breadcrumbs in the grey navigation bar indicate which view you see, as do the query parameters of the URL displayed by the web browser. Breadcrumbs consist of up to three hierarchical layers, which take the form

Index > Table > Row

The breadcrumb ‘Index’ is always visible. It represents a shortcut to reach the management view.

The breadcrumb ‘Table’ is visible only if the current view is related to a table. The management view, for example, is not related to a particular table, but provides access to operations applicable to any one table, which is why it does not coincide with a Table breadcrumb.

If the Table breadcrumb is the right-most breadcrumb displayed in the navigation bar, you operate on the Table view (see below). In this case, the breadcrumb turns into a drop-down menu that can be used to select a different table. Use your settings to specify whether this list includes all available tables or just the tables nested under the same collection as the one you currently display.

The breadcrumb ‘Row’ is visible only if the current view is related to a particular row of a table. Table rows are unique identifiers, which are represented by UUIDs.

Table view

The sorting order of the table defaults to sorting by the date of the last modification in descending order, i. e. the row that was modified last is displayed first. You can change the sorting order by clicking on any cell of the table header to sort the table by that column, provided the underlying column is marked as sortable. The mouse pointer indicates whether or not you can sort by a particular column, changing to a pointer if you can sort, and to a stop sign if you cannot.

Notice that sorting does not work for columns that consist of non-ordinal data types, i. e. data that do not define a sorting order, such as boolean values.

The number of columns displayed on screen depend on your settings. You can change your settings via the menu item called Settings nested in your user menu on the right-hand side of the black navigation bar.

List view

The list view of a table lists all its columns as a list. You can switch to the list view by clicking the list icon on the left-hand side of a table row.
